Extraction: Sweet Orange is a volatile oil obtained by expression from the ripe peel of the fruit. It produces a yellowy-orange or dark orange oil.
Constituents/Active Ingredients: Limonene (90%), cadinine, paradisiol, neral, geraniol, citronellal, sinensal, as well as esters, coumarins and furocoumarins.
General: Sweet Orange pure essential oil is a muscle ease and relaxant. Useful at night time for a calming sleep, blended with lavender or neroli. Vapourises well in a diffuser. Skin conditioner. Contains Vitamins A, B and C. Good for palpitations, bronchitis, colds, flu and stress-related conditions.
Historical: The orange tree was originally a native of the Far East, particularly China and India. It was not used medicinally in Europe until the late 17th century as it was rare and expensive. In Chinese medicine the dried peel is used to treat coughs, colds and anorexia.
Properties: Reviving, antidepressant, stimulating, uplifting. Good for room fragrancing. Antiseptic, bactericidal, carminative, hypotensive and tonic.
Dilute to 4% or less in a carrier oil before applying to the skin. Keep out of eyes. Do not swallow.
